Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the AnimalNet platform processes users' personal data when using the AnimalNet website, mobile application and related services.

We process personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (GDPR), Act No. 18/2018 Coll. on Personal Data Protection, and other applicable legal regulations.

2. What personal data we process

We mainly process data that is necessary for creating an account, using the AnimalNet platform, protecting the safety of users and operating the services.

2.1 Data on registration and account

When registering and using an account, we may process:

• email address,
• password in a secured technical form,
• username,
• confirmation that the user has reached the age of 16,
• email address verification status,
• IP address and technical data related to login and account security.

AnimalNet does not allow registration by persons under 16 years of age.

2.2 Data in the user profile

The user may voluntarily provide or upload the following in their profile:

• profile photograph,
• country and city,
• profile description,
• information on whether they act as a user, veterinarian, trainer, shelter or other type of profile,
• other data that they themselves enter into their profile.

2.3 Data on animals

Within an animal's profile, the user may voluntarily provide:

• the animal's name,
• the animal's species,
• the animal's sex,
• country and city,
• description,
• the animal's date of birth,
• photographs of the animal,
• information about a veterinarian or trainer, if provided by the user.

This data relates to the animal. If the user enters personal data about themselves or other persons into these fields, they are responsible for providing it lawfully.

2.4 User-generated content

AnimalNet allows users to create and share content. We may therefore process:

• posts,
• photographs,
• comments,
• reactions and likes,
• messages between users,
• announcements and notifications,
• marketplace listings,
• ratings, notes or other data entered into the platform by the user.

The user must not publish the personal data of other persons without their consent or another lawful reason.

2.5 Technical and security data

When using the platform, we may process:

• IP address,
• device type,
• browser or operating system type,
• login data,
• data necessary for account protection and abuse prevention,
• error logs and records of the service's technical operation.

2.6 Cookies and similar technologies

On the website we may use cookies or similar technologies to ensure the functionality of the service, remember settings, provide security, analyse usage and improve the platform.

If we use analytical or marketing cookies, we do so only in accordance with applicable legal regulations and according to the user's consent settings.

3. Purposes for which we use the data

We process personal data for the following purposes:

• creating and managing the user account,
• verifying the email address,
• enabling use of the platform's social features,
• displaying profiles, posts, photographs, messages, comments and listings,
• communication between users,
• sending system and security notifications,
• handling users' requests, suggestions and reports,
• protecting the platform, users and animals from abuse, fraud, spam and inappropriate content,
• handling requests concerning personal data,
• fulfilling legal obligations,
• improving the stability, security and functionality of the platform.

4. Legal bases for processing

We process personal data on the basis of the following legal bases:

• performance of a contract under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, in particular when creating an account and providing AnimalNet services,
• legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, in particular for protecting the security of the platform, preventing abuse, handling reports and improving the service,
• compliance with a legal obligation under Article 6(1)(c) GDPR, where an obligation arises for us from the law,
• consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, where required for a specific processing activity, for example for certain types of cookies or voluntary marketing settings.

5. Age of users

Accounts and the interactive community features of the AnimalNet platform are intended for users at least 16 years of age. Selected public information may be viewed without registration; it is not intended for children.

During registration, the user confirms that they have reached the age of 16. If we find that an account was created by a person under 16 years of age, we may cancel the account and delete or anonymise the related personal data, unless the law imposes another obligation on us.

If a parent or legal guardian believes that a child under 16 years of age is using AnimalNet, they may contact us at info@animalnet.sk.

6. Who may have access to the data

Personal data may only be accessed by persons and entities that need it to operate, secure or support the AnimalNet platform.

This may in particular include:

• providers of hosting and server infrastructure,
• providers of email services,
• providers of technical support and development,
• providers of analytical or security tools, if we use them,
• public authorities, if such an obligation is imposed on us by law.

We enter into appropriate personal data processing agreements with service providers who process personal data on our behalf.

We do not sell personal data to third parties.

7. Transfer of data outside the EU/EEA

We endeavour to store and process personal data within the European Union or the European Economic Area.

Should a transfer of personal data outside the EU/EEA occur, it will take place only in accordance with the GDPR, for example on the basis of an adequacy decision, standard contractual clauses or another lawful mechanism.

8. How long we retain the data

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was obtained.

• We retain account data for as long as the user account exists.
• We retain content published by the user for as long as the account exists, or until it is removed by the user or the controller.
• We retain messages and communication for as long as the account exists, or as required by the platform's technical and security needs.
• We retain technical and security logs for as long as necessary to protect the platform and resolve incidents.
• We retain data that we must keep due to a legal obligation for the period required by the applicable legal regulations.

After an account is deleted, personal data is deleted or anonymised without undue delay. If certain data needs to be retained longer due to a legal obligation, resolving a security incident, the protection of legal claims or the prevention of abuse, we retain it only for the period necessary.

9. Deletion of account and data

The user may delete their account and related personal data.

The account can be deleted directly on the AnimalNet platform in the "My Profile" section by clicking the "Delete entire account" button.

If the user does not have access to the account or the application, they may request deletion of the account by email at:

Upon receipt of the request, we will delete or anonymise the account and related personal data, unless the law imposes an obligation on us to retain certain data. We may ask the user to verify their identity in order to prevent unauthorised deletion of the account.

10. Data security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure or damage.

These measures include in particular:

• securing account access with a password,
• email address verification,
• technical security of servers and communication,
• restricting access to data to authorised persons only,
• monitoring and resolving security incidents,
• the option to report inappropriate or harmful content.

11. Rights of the user

As a data subject, the user has the following rights:

• the right of access to personal data,
• the right to rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data,
• the right to erasure of personal data,
• the right to restriction of processing,
• the right to data portability,
• the right to object to processing,
• the right to withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent,
• the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

12. Public content and user responsibility

Some parts of the AnimalNet platform are based on content created by users. The user acknowledges that data, photographs, posts, comments, profiles, listings or other content that they publish may be visible to other users or visitors of the platform depending on the service settings.

The user is responsible for not publishing the personal data of other persons without authorisation and for not publishing content that infringes the rights of other persons, legal regulations or the rules of the AnimalNet platform.

13. Changes to the policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, in particular when the platform's features, legal requirements or the manner of data processing change.

The current version is always available on the AnimalNet website.
